About Emily

Hi there!

I’m Emily. Here’s a little bit about me and my background:

I have always had a passion for working with children in a meaningful way.

I grew up in Upper Township and began nannying and babysitting at the age of 14 for neighborhood families. It was around this time that I realized I have a love for fostering wonder and imagination within kids.

While in college at Stockton University, I continued working as a nanny, as well as an instructor for children’s golf camp at Twisted Dune Golf Course in Egg Harbor Township.

I also previously served as an ecology kayak and paddleboard ecology tour guide in Ocean City.

Upon graduating from Stockton in 2018, I began work for a local non-profit that was dedicated to education of the natural ecosystem. We also were working to open a hands-on children’s museum. During my time here, I focused on children’s natural ecology education.

I then moved to Nashville to pursue my master’s degree in environmental sustainability. My capstone project centered on creating a curriculum for sustainability studies, culminating in the creation of an entire college-level course. While living in Tennessee, I served as a part-time nanny to an adventurous 3-year-old. Almost daily, we would take walks to the local park and explore the trails together.

Also in Nashville, I worked for the program ‘Engineering for Kids’, teaching after-school STEM education programming to students at a local school.

as a result of COVID, I moved back to New Jersey and completed the final semester of my master’s program online. During this time, I returned to Stockton University to serve as a teaching assistant for two of my former professors. I graduated from my master’s program in December of 2020 with a 4.0 GPA.

Since 2021, I have been working for a small civil engineering firm. During my time here, I realized my true passions lie in hands-on work, ideally with children.

This realization led me to the creation of Wild Wanderers Nature Camp. 2024 was our inaugural summer and it was a great success!

Over the past several months, I have spent countless hours developing and perfecting the summer camp programming for 2025, as well as lining all of the details up (facilities, dates, certifications, licenses, insurance, etc.). I am really looking forward to our second year of summer camp and mommy and me sessions!

outside of work, I have been actively practicing Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu since 2020 and received my purple belt in 2024. I have competed at the international level and am forever grateful for the lessons and opportunities I have gained from practicing martial arts.

i AM ALSO A MEMBER OF THE nEW jERSEY mYCOLOGICAL SOCIETY, AND SPEND MUCH TIME IN THE FALL FORAGING FOR MUSHROOMS AND STUDYING THEM.

aDDITIONALLY, i run a handmade jewelry business, studio Emmylou. i SOURCE MY DESIGN INSPIRATION FROM NATURE AND USE LOCALLY SOURCED MATERIALS, WHEN POSSIBLE.

Questions? Feel free to call or text. Let's chat about the upcoming camp – I'm genuinely SO excited about having a fantastic time with your LITTLE ONES this summer!
