How are behavioral issues addressed at the camp?

we approach behavioral issues with a focus on positive reinforcement, understanding, and connection to nature. Our approach includes:

  • Open Communication: We maintain open lines of communication with campers, encouraging them to express their feelings and concerns. This creates a supportive environment where issues can be addressed proactively.

  • Nature as a Calming Influence: Nature has a soothing effect, and we leverage the natural surroundings to create a calming atmosphere. Campers are encouraged to spend reflective time in nature, fostering a sense of tranquility and emotional well-being.

  • Mindfulness Practices: We incorporate mindfulness activities into our camp program to promote self-awareness and emotional regulation. Techniques such as breathing exercises and nature-focused mindfulness help campers manage their emotions effectively.

  • Positive Reinforcement: We emphasize positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviors. Campers receive recognition and praise for positive actions, creating a positive and affirming camp culture.

  • Conflict Resolution Through Nature: When conflicts arise, we use nature as a backdrop for conflict resolution discussions. This encourages campers to understand the interconnectedness of all living things and promotes empathy and understanding.

  • Individualized Support: Recognizing that each child is unique, our staff provides individualized support to address specific behavioral challenges. We work closely with campers to understand their needs and implement strategies that cater to their individual personalities.

  • Collaboration with Parents: We maintain open communication with parents, sharing insights into their child's camp experience. Collaborative efforts between camp staff and parents help ensure consistent behavioral expectations.
